I hope you have been enjoying the beginning of your break. There are a few opportunities for track work this summer. If you have any questions please let me know and will get them answered as best as I can.
SUMMER POLE VAULTING:
We will be practicing Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:00pm to 5:30pm. The first week of practice will be Monday June 12th and Wednesday June 14th. We will be practicing at Rocky Mountain High School. The best place to park or enter will be by the tennis courts on the east side of the track. There may be a couple of days that I will be out of town and will do my best to alternate days those weeks or have another coach there to help out. I will communicate these as far in advance as I can. Attached is a waiver of liability that needs to be signed and handed in before anyone can jump. Practices will go until Wednesday Aug 9th. We might be able to have a few fall practices but that will be dependent on the Fall sports schedule. There could be anywhere from 1 to 4 coaches which will be great for getting different technique perspectives. There is a charge for the summer vaulting program. Athletes can either pay $80 for the whole summer or if you don't think you will be able to make it very often it will be $10 per practice. Any checks can be made out to me directly. The money that is received will all be used for purchasing new poles and any other equipment needs for the pole vault. If you know anyone else that might like to jump this summer, feel free to forward this information to them. All ages are welcome. Any updates on practice days will be sent via email. There will more than likely be a few days where the weather will not allow us to jump. I will always show up to the practice and if the weather is bad, I will send people home. I would recommend using your best judgement and if the weather is not looking good, do not show up. If there are any questions you can feel free to email me, call me, or text me.
Hope to see you this summer.
Coach Kurt Davies
SPRINT AND HURDLE PRACTICES:
Coach Jeramie Thomas from Poudre High School will be running a summer track program for sprinters and hurdlers. Practice will begin May 31st and we'll practice every M-W-F 4:45pm at Poudre High School. It's not just Poudre kids, we've got middle school and high school kids from all over the city, there's also some college kids back for the summer that will be training with us. If you have other questions on this please call Coach Mackenzie and I will answer the best I can. If you are interested give Coach Thomas a call
